Walter

Walter was our 6 year old Red Ruffed Lemur Male who came to us from overcrowding in a zoo in North FL to be a companion for Eliza. The two had been together since their big introduction in 2017 and done so much for the Lemur species. Walter, being intact, got extremely aggressive and temperamental starting in early February each year for breeding season. Walter was hands off from this day until he started to lighten up in about June, otherwise Walter was an absolute Ham, unless you are a guy. Walter was an extremely sensual man and liked to close his eyes and kiss us while receiving snuggles. Walter is one of the most iconic parts of this organization, him and Eliza have truly been a blessing for their countless years of reproduction for this endangered species. 

 

Unfortunately Walter passed unexpectedly in 2022 from causes of an unknown genetic issue. Our handsome man wasn’t here as long as we had liked but he lived an incredible life and has so many beautiful children to carry on his legacy of conservation. Walter will forever be a founding father to Wildlife Wonderland, you will be missed but never forgotten and we will make sure of that. 

 

 Favorite food; any … I am scared of Tamarinds though.
